After my eyes open every morning, I immediately wonder if this is the day Harrison Ford will finally come across one of my scripts or articles while sipping his morning coffee. Of course, he’d decide he absolutely had to star in one of my movies, win an Oscar, and then proclaim I was his personal writer for eternity. I like to keep my feet on the ground with my writing hopes and dreams.
In 2010, I had the privilege of graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a bachelor’s in journalism. The knowledgeable and passionate professors taught me how essential integrity and ethics are in writing. They encouraged creativity and helped me find my own unique style. I also acquired an associate degree in business from Katharine Gibbs School in New York.
Recently, I became the chairperson for the theater committee of the Forte Awards – a local music and entertainment awards show. I’ve written about the Reno theaters since 2006 – everything from reviews of plays, to focusing on behind-the-scenes with directors, techies, costumers and actors.
I began writing for The Good Life magazine in early 2016, and I’ve enjoyed meeting and interviewing the families for the feature articles. Sharing their interests and goodwill toward their neighbors and surrounding communities has been insightful and rewarding. Coordinating the content of the The Good Life issues has been extremely educational. I have a newfound respect for editors.
My heart contains much gratitude toward Oprah Winfrey. She ignited my deepest desire – to be the author of a piece that will one day be considered a classic.
